The Nordic Environment Finance Cooperation

The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) is a risk capital institution financing environmental projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

NEFCO was established 1990 by the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). Its purpose is to facilitate the implementation of environmentally beneficial projects in the neighbouring regions, with transboundary effects, which also benefit the Nordic region. Projects should be financially viable and, in the first instance, based on cooperation between local and Nordic enterprises. NEFCO is located in Helsinki.
